Home Activities
As I sit and reflect on the last two months, I can’t help but embrace the unintended gifts we’ve received – the gift of more time in our homes, with our families, with ourselves. These gifts have allowed many of us the opportunity for developing personal growth, building new habits, and adjusting our cultural values. These strange days have fostered a change in our society and we want to encourage you to use your time the best you can, whatever that means in your life. Our team is leaning in to nurture our health and ability to love our neighbors. Here are a few of our favorite ways to make the most of this time –
Build a blanket & pillow fort
Remember the days way back when… the days you could pull all of the blankets and pillows in the house into one small space to build your own kingdom? Those days are back because you’re never too old for a pillow fort! Build one with your kids, your partner, or even yourself. Grab some snacks and wine and kick back in your wicked-cool fort to watch a movie!
Spend more time outside
The outdoors provides a great escape, especially when we’re all mostly stuck at home. But, it is also a place we often neglect to remember. We should all enjoy time in the great outdoors daily. Put the electronics away for a little bit and spend some time in nature – walking, biking, gardening, practicing a sport in the lawn because it’s healing to the heart.
Host Facetime dates
People across the world have been capitalizing on the wonders of video chatting and despite everyone being physically distant, they are virtually connected, and it’s really bringing people together. We can now talk with friends we haven’t seen in years, or even our besties for a virtual Wine Wednesday. So get a group of friends in a chat and suggest a weekly Facetime happy hour! Everyone can grab their favorite beverages to enjoy together… we suggest the Canned Oregon Rosé Bubbles!
Start writing in a journal
Whether you want something to look back on or a dedicate time to express your thoughts and emotions, journaling can play a huge role in mental health! It is a proven stress, anxiety, and depression aid as you can freely dive into and even work through your inner thoughts.
Reduce, reuse, recycle
Yes, we went there. This an excellent time to really consider what are essential needs and what are wants, and from there try to minimize and recycle our possessions where we can. When you are looking to get rid of something, think about how it can be upcycled! There are multiple uses for many items, we just have to get creative!
Give back to your community
While some are able to spend more time at home, others are continuing to work and put their lives at the front of this community need for healing. Now is the perfect time to use our resources, time, and creativity to provide for and respect others by volunteering and giving back.
